Acoostic Moose

Acoostic Moose are comprised of Newcastle legend Kevin O’Hara and vocalist Mick Fetch. The outfit was formed as far back as 2000 with Mick’s brother Josh but Kevin became the “right antler” in 2007 and the boys haven’t looked back.

The Acoostic Moose name is a recognised and respected name within the live music and wedding industries. The duo was rewarded for their hard work and professionalism in 2007 with “Best Ceremony Musicians” and “Best Reception Musicians” titles in the inaugural Ten Carat Bridal Awards. Mick Fetch is a full time musician and debuted on the Newcastle music scene as front man for well known party band Radio Ga Ga. Kevin O’Hara (formerly from the String Doctors, among others,) is simply one of Newcastle’s best musicians. His skills on the guitar will astound you, and now, Acoostic Moose can offer an exciting new dimension to any corporate or wedding package – beautiful fingerstyle arrangements as a backdrop for your ceremony or intimate dinner and of course the party tunes that keep people up on the dance floor for the whole night.

“Kev brings a completely different aspect to the Moose with his amazing finger style guitar and vocal harmony. We can now do funky instrumental pieces from the 40’s, Michael Buble`, early Rock and Roll and country, right through to Matchbox 20, the Foo Fighters and Powderfinger; the scope is fantastic and the audience loves the variety as much as we do,” Fetch says.

So what makes Acoostic Moose such a popular choice for weddings and corporate events? They boast a song list that will please all ages; from Elvis through to Matchbox 20. Some other artists covered include Pete Murray, Jack Johnson, Diesel, Tonic, Eric Clapton, Paul Kelly, Billy Joel, Van Morrison, Cat Stephens, Steve Miller Band, Powderfinger and The Eagles. The boys are set up and ready to go before any of your guests arrive and they can cover the music for the entire day, not just a three or four hour call.

“We endeavour to put together a musical package with the bride and groom. It’s not about us, it’s about them and the music on the night of their wedding should reflect their personalities and bring to life special moments in their lives both as a couple and individually. With our combined repertoire of over 40 years of music, I believe we can do that successfully and give them plenty to choose from. We can offer an opinion and our experiences, but at the end of the day it’s about them and how they want the evening to pan out.”

Mick is also a proficient MC, and this service is offered free of charge to all brides and grooms.

“I’m certainly not a comedian so I don’t try to tell jokes,” says Mick. “My aim is to make the atmosphere welcoming and to get the guests to relax and enjoy themselves. I also make
sure things happen when they should so the bride and groom can relax and celebrate with family and friends. If the couple have their own MC in mind, that’s great; they are welcome to use my microphone. Most venues have their own system for speeches but mine is always there if needed.”
